The winners of the Bathroom and Ceramic Tile Industrial Design competitions organised by CEVISAMA have already been announced. The jury, which included Alejandro Benavent, Oriol Guimerá, Antonio Barba Juan, Juan Olcina and Pierluigi Cattermole, decided unanimously to award the first prize of 3,600 euros in the ceramic tile design competition to a creation titled I-CON, which was entered by International University of Catalonia student María Amat Busquets.

CEVISAMA is set to launch a new initiative at the upcoming show, which runs from 10th to 13th February at Feria Valencia: the Specifiers Club. The Club is a meeting place aimed at visitors who fit a specific profile: architects, architectural technicians, decorators, designers...in sum, those who influence the decision-making process.

More than 900 designs have been entered for the CEVISAMA Indi international competitions that are run each year by the International Exhibition for Architectural Ceramic and Bathroom Equipment.

438 designs have been entered for the ceramic tile design competition, including 68 from colleges abroad. Educational establishments from 20 countries have submitted selected work by their students, most notably from Portugal and Germany.

CEVISAMA is rolling out an extensive international promotion programme ahead of the 2009 fair. As well as advertising the initiative also includes sending out invitations by direct mail and specific activity in the specialist press.

The 27th CEVISAMA takes place from 10th to 13th February and more than 80% of the space has already been booked.

The global economic situation is reflected in a 12% reduction in the space that ceramic tile exhibitors have booked at CEVISAMA.

The Spanish Association of Ceramic Floor and Wall Tile Manufacturers (ASCER), has presented its Ceramic Oasis project as part of Casa Decor Barcelona. The project represents a group of beach huts made of ceramic tiles. On this occasion, the most outstanding exhibition of the avant garde and interior design in the country, Casa Decor, chose sustainability applied to the design of interiors as its core theme.

Tile of Spain - the umbrella brand used in the industry's overseas promotional initiatives - is setting up an information stand for the first time at BuildArt, the design and construction materials fair that takes place at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in India from 21st to 24th October 2008.

The Spanish ceramic tile sector's information stand will be located in the pavilion showing products for the home and will raise awareness of Spain's ceramic floor and wall tile offering.

The Spanish Ceramic and Glass Society (SECV) has announced that the competition for the 31st Alfa de Oro Awards is now open. The awards aim to give recognition to products and process that display outstanding technological or artistic merit whilst meeting certain criteria regarding functionality and use.

The International Fair for Architectural Ceramics and Bathroom Equipment, CEVISAMA, is launching a new logo for the 2009 show, which takes place from 10th to 13th February next year. The logo underscores the character of the event as a fair for bathroom equipment and ceramic tile as an architectural material.
