Temporary installation to turn central boulevard at Cevisama 2025 into sensory journey

Interior design practice Cosín Estudio to redesign fair’s communal spaces to improve visitor experience and promote commercial interactions.

‘Matter in motion’ project reflects artisanal ceramic’s essential elements: earth, water and fire.

Valencia, 4 February 2025.- Cevisama continues to reveal content set to stun visitors to the upcoming edition of the fair, scheduled to run from 24th to 28th February at Feria Valencia. One of the installations set to spark significant interest, especially amongst the thousands of visitors expected to attend, is the transformation being made to Feria Valencia’s Central Boulevard. The space will be the axis connecting all the commercial spaces and halls and will be the site of a sensory journey inspired by the most traditional forms of ceramic.

Devised by renowned, prestigious interior design practice Cosín Estudio, the temporary installation aims to reset visitors’ experience of the fair’s central space. There are paths around the installation and various meeting points, whilst the design shows off the non-exhibition areas, recognising their key role as places where industry professionals can interact.

Dubbed ‘Matter in motion’, the creation is based on the very essence of the most traditional form of ceramic and the primal elements involved in making it: earth, water and fire. As Cosín Estudio creative director Carlota Rodríguez, says, “Cevisama is not just a showcase for the ceramic tile industry but a space for coming together, where temporary builds can enhance the visitor experience. What we want to do with this project is draw attention to the paths around the show and provide an alluring environment that converses, as it were, with the materials and the whole concept of ceramic tiles”.

A stunning structure

The design’s structure involves several layers that guide people around and give the space a stronger identity:

  • Sand-coloured carpet along the main pathways – a reference to the base clays that are part of the make-up of ceramic.
  • Blue circular meeting points at the junctions with the entrances to the halls – a reference to water.
  • Areas where people can meet and sit, marked out as reddish-coloured islands that represent the fire and heat needed to bake ceramic. These areas have seats built into the design that have been selected by the event’s management.
  • Above the hall’s central ‘crossroad’, a suspended pergola made of fabric in the same colour palette creates a visual marker that makes it easy to identify from a distance.

Visitors will also find a welcome point at the entrance to the venue, where people can meet and get information. Built as a large container, in earthen hues, it houses a wooden bench that doubles up as a seat and an information point. Opposite, the pieces of sculpture-furniture designed by Tomás Alonso and clad with ceramic tiles serve as a backdrop for the photocall wall, creating an iconic setting symbolic of the fair.
