Roof tiles and brick claim leading role at Cevisama as sustainable, safe and efficient construction solution

Roof tile and brick manufacturers set for combined presence at Cevisama, with Valencian and national trade associations ‘Gremi de Rajolers’ and Hispalyt set to showcase advantages of their products as regards fire and climate change.

Wednesday 26th February, designated “Brick Day”, to feature presentation of advances made in European ‘Life Superhero’ project designed to promote use of ventilated, permeable roofs.

Valencia, 11th February 2025.- By taking part in the upcoming edition of Cevisama, brick and terracotta roof tile manufacturers are aiming to promote the traditional use of materials such as brick and roof tiles as a sustainable, safe, efficient construction solution that meets the requirements of the fight against climate change. As well as exhibiting at the fair, the industry will be delivering several educational activities and presentations centred on the advances being made.

The ‘Gremi de Rajolers de la Comunitat Valenciana’, the main trade body that groups the industry in the Valencia region together, is taking a corporate stand (N2P4 Stand A41) at Cevisama that will display ceramic products and construction systems along with technical documents that set out their advantages, applications and how to install them.

Ceramic products: fireproof

Notable amongst the information about the applications for ceramic materials and solutions the Gremi will be providing at Cevisama are the facts relating to fire resistance. Ceramic products are in fact not combustible, making them an ideal choice in terms of ensuring that buildings and structures are safe, as they do not help fires to spread and provide additional protection for both people and property.

The durability, efficiency and sustainability of ceramic materials and systems will also be under the spotlight, proving that they are the best choice for those seeking to deliver safer projects and better results whilst also being environmentally friendly.

European project taking on climate change

Information about the European ‘Life Superhero’ project will also be available at Cevisama. The project aims to promote the use of ventilated, permeable roofs as an efficient solution for adapting to and mitigating climate change. It is also promoting an innovative focus on passive cooling for buildings and the installation of ventilated, permeable roofs and ‘herotile’ roofs in both new builds and in refurbishment projects.

Two examples of good practice currently being deployed as part of the project and that involve the refurbishment of social housing in Reggio Emilia (Italy) will be reviewed. The presentation will cover the initial state of the two flat-roofed buildings, the improvements made and the steps to be followed to install a ventilated and permeable roof. Details of the monitoring process that has been set up are also due to be revealed.
