More than thirty leading ceramic tile, bathroom, construction and interior furnishings companies involved in the project created by Héctor Ruiz-Velázquez studio.
Valencia, 17th February 2025.- A huge oval arch leading to a bright hall where the ‘Hotel Cevisama’ logo, made of ceramic, will welcome visitors to an installation of a type seldom seen at a trade fair. This one promises to be a dazzling feature of the upcoming edition of Cevisama. Renowned Puerto Rico-born architect Héctor Ruiz-Velázquez’s team has been working at Feria Valencia for several weeks now on an installation that Cevisama hopes will vindicate and recognise ceramic tiles and bathroom equipment as fashion items and as versatile materials for contract businesses.
What is Hotel Cevisama like?
The team at the studio has wanted to reveal a few details as to what the installation will be like. ‘Hotel Cevisama’ is a retreat in a visionary architectural form that blends sustainability, innovative design and a human-centred approach. Subtitled ‘The Mediterranean: land, light, air and life’, the design re-interprets contemporary hotel facilities, referencing the value of human rituals as part of the experience of staying in a hotel.
Their design seeks to make the public spaces more than mere areas through which people pass, making them instead an integral part of the immediate community, connecting guests with the surrounding area. As a key material, ceramic becomes a bridge between the inside and the outside, merging both environments together in a natural way.
The swimming pool and spa zone, surrounded by a Mediterranean palm grove, connects harmoniously with the interior of the building, creating a flow that stretches through the hotel’s reception areas and corridors. The ceramic tiles, their versatility and their continuity, bring these two worlds together, acting as a link between the guest area and the conference block to the north, exposing the relationship between the internal and external spaces.
Arab- and Japanese-inspired Suites
As to the bedrooms, the hotel offers two innovative, unique designs. The Essence Suite is a revolutionary concept where the ceramic is the space’s ‘skin’, covering both the floor and the walls. Inspired by Arab and Japanese cultures, this suite creates an atmosphere that fosters relaxation and wellbeing, whilst the natural way in which temperatures are regulated mean it is sustainable from an energy perspective and promotes guests’ physical and mental wellbeing
The Sensu Suite, for its part, offers a unique experience of flexibility and customisation, inspired by Japanese Sensu fans. The translucent textile panels mean that guests can alter the space to suit their needs and wishes, creating different configurations that suit every moment.
