Trans-Hitos 2020 delves into ceramic identity

CEVISAMA, which holds its upcoming event from 3 to 7 February at the Valencia Trade Fair, again features the Trans-Hitos show that, on this occasion, points to “IDENTITY” as slogan. And that, according to the organisers, is because: “Trans-Hitos: Identity” seeks to reflect upon the worldwide use of ceramic materials in architecture since the 18th century, these being the ceramics known today as traditional ceramics. Ceramic materials served as a cultural and technological bonding nexus, performing a major role as functional and aesthetic material that has bequeathed great works to the history of art and architecture, works which are today meeting points and references for everybody”.

The 2020 Trans-Hitos event, fostered by the CEVISAMA organisation, with the support of the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association (ASCER), and organised by the Instituto de Tecnología Cerámica, will feature four spaces:

In one, through three large screens that form a prism, the winning design projects in the Ceramics in Architecture and Interior Design Awards competition, organised and promoted by the Spanish Ceramic Tile Manufacturers’ Association (ASCER) will be displayed, in addition to an exhibition of the design projects of students in the Ceramic Tile Studies Departments, also promoted by ASCER, and a retrospective show of the projects developed over the 15 years that the Trans-Hitos Exhibition has duly come to Level 2 at Cevisama.

Harvard University is also collaborating in the show, through a space that explores the structural potential of extruded ceramic materials. A Meeting Point will also be created for CEVISAMA visitors, featuring ceramic applications for urban environments.

A further space will be devoted to the winning project in the CEVISAMA competition, aimed at architecture professionals. This year’s winner was the project “Pop”, unanimously chosen by a jury of pre-eminent professionals in ceramics and architecture. The “Pop” project is a work by architect Belén Ilarri, and it analyses the possibility of creating a tile-based environmental effect. A cube-shaped space is involved that highlights and valorises the qualities of ceramics.

There is anew a great sense of expectancy before the upcoming CEVISAMA 2020 show and Trans-Hitos Exhibition: Identity, in order to again enjoy the wide-ranging possibilities, uses, and solutions in a variety of spaces showcasing Spanish ceramics, global leader in innovation, quality, and superb performances, both technically and aesthetically.
