OXYCOMB Sistemas: energy efficiency in ceramic kilns and dryers

20 de febrero 2023 .- Over 400 businesses will be at Cevisama, the leading trade fair for the ceramics, bathroom equipment and natural stone sector, over five days. They include OXYCOMB Sistemas which is investing in energy efficiency by tapping its extensive know-how in the ceramics industry. Its customers can make significant savings on their gas and electricity bills when they fit its OPTIMA System with payback periods of less than 12 months.

There are three key factors in this technology’s success: energy savings, quality control and reduced atmospheric emissions, all of which are core values for any energy-efficient enterprise.

New in ceramic dryers

At the start of this decade, OXYCOMB Sistemas developed a new system to control relative humidity, pressure and temperature in ceramic dryers, the now legendary OPTIMA® RH. This system can fully and automatically control the drying atmosphere and thus improve the quality of parts. Whether the dryer has heat recovery or not, the results are extremely impressive in all cases yielding savings of more than 20%.

Ceramic kilns

The OPTIMA® XA system enables constant, onsite, real-time analysis of O2%, temperature and pressure in the kiln chamber, which delivers heat savings coming to over 4%-6%. Plus a new feature this year is automatic regulation of specific parts of the kiln using OPTIMA® XA system measurements which makes for greater kiln pressure stability in case of gaps and adds an extra bonus in final gas savings.

Emissions control

OXYCOMB Sistemas also delivers solutions for controlling stack emissions with analysers which can continuously measure O2, CO, CO2, pressure, temperature, humidity, particles, VOCs, etc.
