Fuensanta Nieto

Fuensanta Nieto holds a degree in Architecture from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM) and a Master of Science in Building Design from the Graduate School of Architecture and Planning (GSAPP), Columbia University, New York. She currently teaches projects at the School of Architecture of the European University of Madrid. Fuensanta Nieto lectures on architecture and participates in juries and symposia at various institutions around the world. From 1986 to 1991 she was co-director of the magazine ARQUITECTURA, published by the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid.

Max Arrocet

Maximiliano Arrocet has been a director at AL_A since 2012, joining the studio as Future Systems in 2007. He has led projects for the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology in Lisbon (MAAT) and the Maggie’s Centre in Southampton. He is currently leading the design of Pitch/Pitch – a new concept for stackable football pitches in city centres – and the project for the world’s first magnetised target fusion centre for General Fusion. Maximiliano also manages several private residential projects and is an expert in the design of bespoke details, both historic and contemporary.
Maximiliano studied at the Universities of Bath and Westminster, and has extensive knowledge of building materials and techniques.

Matthias Sauerbruch

Matthias Sauerbruch estudió en la Hochschule der Künste de Berlín y en la Architectural Association School of Architecture de Londres. Trabajó en la Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) de Londres como director de proyectos durante seis años y como socio durante cuatro.
En 1989 fundó Sauerbruch Hutton junto con Louisa Hutton y dirige la oficina desde entonces. Entre 1985 y 1990, Matthias impartió clases en la AA como profesor de unidad. Ha sido profesor titular en la TU de Berlín y en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Stuttgart entre 1995 y 2005. También ha sido profesor visitante en la Universidad de Virginia en Charlottesville (2006), en la Harvard Graduate School of Design (2005-2009) y en la Universidad de las Artes de Berlín (2012-2014). Matthias es miembro fundador del Consejo Alemán de Construcción Sostenible (Deutsche Gesellschaft für nachhaltiges Bauen) y lo fue del consejo del Instituto KW de Arte Contemporáneo de Berlín. Además, es miembro honorario del AIA (American Institute of Architects), del RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland), de la Sección de Arquitectura de la Akademie der Künste de Berlín.

Néstor Montenegro

Néstor Montenegro (Madrid 1975) is an architect by the ETSAM.
After 10 years as a partner in dosmasunoarquitectos, in 2013 he founded EXTUDIO, an architecture office where he develops his professional activity in various fields related to architecture: from design to dissemination, publishing and curatorship, research and teaching.
He is the author of widely awarded and disseminated buildings, including: 102 dwellings in Carabanchel (Ecola Awards and Enor Award 2009), the Social Services Centre in Móstoles (Architecture Plus Award 2012, COAM Award 2012, AIT Award – Architektur Innenarchitecktur Technischer Ausbau of Hamburg 2012, Arquia Próxima Award 2012) and the Municipal Library and Theatre of Boadilla del Monte (COAM Award 2022, XIV BEAU Award 2023, Matcoam Award 2022), all in Madrid.
As a result of first prizes in competitions, the Easter Week Museum of Zamora, the Integral Security Centre of Boadilla del Monte, Madrid, and the Spanish Pavilion at the Universal Expo of Osaka 2025 are under development.
His work has been published in publications such as El Croquis, Arquitectura Viva, Domus, 2G and A+U; exhibited, among others, at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2008, 2012 and 2016; and participated in conferences in the United States, China, Peru, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Colombia, among others.

José María Sánchez

José María Sánchez García holds a PhD in Architecture from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid. He is currently Professor of Architectural Projects at the ETSAM and has been Visiting Professor at the Academy of Architecture of Mendrisio, at the ETH University of Zurich and at the IUAV of Venice. In 2017 he was made an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) International Fellowship. He also received an honourable mention in the Spanish Architecture Prize 2017.

The José María Sánchez García studio was founded in 2006 and is currently based in Madrid and Switzerland, developing public projects won in architectural competitions. The studio has been awarded national and international prizes, such as First Prize BSI Swiss Architectural Award, Switzerland; First Prize AR+D Architecture Review Awards, London; Architectural Record’s Design Vanguard Award, New York; First Prize Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism; First Prize Spanish Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism; First Prize Enor Architecture Award; and First Prize Ascer in Interior Design.
